Dramat faces possible arrest after failing to appear in court
Yesterday, Anwa Dramat and his co-accused were supposed to appear in court on over five charges.
Yesterday, Dramat and his co-accused were supposed to appear in court on four counts of kidnapping, two counts of defeating the ends of justice and one of contravention of the Immigration Act.
The Pretoria Magistrate's Court has since authorised a warrant Dramat's arrest - but it will be held over until the next court date where he would be expected to make representations as to why he did not attend court.
NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said, "The warrant was issued as a matter of procedure and it is held over until 30 September, so he will not be arrested. If he is not in court by 30 September, then the warrant will be effective."
