UPDATE: The case of the 'missing' Tshwane mayoral chain
After reports that it was missing, a city official says there never was a mayoral chain.
JOHANNESBURG - Earlier reports said that Tshwane's mayoral chain was allegedly missing, but mayoral spokesperson Peter de Necker has confirmed to Eyewitness News that there was never a chain to begin with because the city has no coat of arms.
Officially known as a livery collar or chain of office, it is worn as a sign of office.
The Democratic Alliance (DA)'s Solly Msimanga is expected to be voted in as Tshwane's new mayor today.
It's understood Msimanga will not announce his mayoral committee today, but will probably do so at the next meeting which is scheduled for next week.
