The mine workers are demanding that govt intervene after operations were halted following a shaft collapse.
JOHANNESBURG - Association for Mining and Construction Union (Amcu) workers at the Lily Mine are marching through the streets of Pretoria this afternoon and will deliver a memorandum of their grievances to the department of mineral resources.
The mine workers are demanding that government intervene after operations at the Barberton Mine were halted earlier this year following a shaft collapse.
Three workers have been trapped underground since February.
Employees at the cash strapped mine have not been paid for several months now.
Chief Marshall John Sibiya says they've been waiting on government to assist them for too long.
"We've been patient enough and we don't have any assistance from the government."
