UCT students robbed at gunpoint in Khayelitsha
The students were at the Site B Community Health Clinic as part of their clinical training.
The health science students were attacked outside the Ummangaliso Primary School in site B yesterday.
The UCT students were at the Site B Community Health Clinic as part of their clinical training at public health facilities.
The group was travelling in a university vehicle en route to collect four more students.
UCT's Pat Lucas says, "We are disturbed that out students and staff, who were serving the community in Khayelitsha, have been attacked in such a way.
"We are also deeply aware and very concerned about the high level of crime in Khayelitsha in general, it's a community where some of our staff members and students live and visit (sic)."
