Police investigate killing of ANC EC mayoral candidate and wife
Zolile Malangeni and his wife were gunned down in their home in Tsolo on Thursday night.
Former Mhlontlo Municipality council speaker Zolile Malangeni and his wife were gunned down in their home in Tsolo on Thursday night.
The 54-year-old ANC member was touted as next mayor of the municipality.
Malangeni's wife Thelma was the municipality's director of economic development.
Since October last year there have been 22 politically motivated killings across the country.
ANC provincial spokesperson Mlibo Qoboshiyane says they've spoken to the police task team investigating the matter.
"I was informed this morning that the work is continuing and we want all the leads and whoever has information to collaborate with our police so that this can be expedited, and we can apprehend the perpetrators of this crime."
Qoboshiyane adds Malangeni was popular among branches.
"In the recent nominations, he has been nominated by the branches of the ANC and he was in the top list of the candidates of the ANC.
