Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve fire death toll rises to 6
The Agriculture and Rural Development’s Roleta Lebelo says five people died in hospital yesterday.
JOHANNESBURG - The death toll from a fire which broke out at a nature reserve in near Heidelberg earlier this week has risen to six.
It is understood the blaze broke out at a wagon ranch farm on Monday and moved to the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve due to strong winds.
A woman who had been cutting savanna grass, which is used for thatch roofing, died at the scene and eight others were rushed to hospital.
