Tanzanian man caught with R3m worth of drugs sentenced to 6 years

JOHANNESBURG - A convicted drug dealer has been sentences to six years behind bars after trying to bribe an official in Kempton Park.

Tanzanian born Karim Kondo was arrested last Thursday after being stopped by authorities at OR Tambo International Airport where drugs estimated at around R3 million were found in his luggage.

After being arrested, the 27-year-old unsuccessfully tried to bribe authorities with R5,000.

Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu said, "Last week Thursday, Mr Kondo was convicted and sentenced to six years direct imprisonment by the Kempton Park Magistrates Court."
