JOHANNESBURG - Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane has assured supporters the party will not compromise its values and will only enter into coalitions with parties that share the same principles.

The party held a victory rally at Freedom Park in Pretoria yesterday, as it continues talks to try and put together a coalition to secure the City of Tshwane.

Maimane says they will not partner with just any party for the sake of being in power.

"We are not desperate to get into government because we will not compromise the people of this city and this town for our own benefit."

He has reiterated that forming a coalition with the African National Congress is not an option.

"That is why when people say to me 'why don't you work with the ANC?' I say, 'because they divide us by race'."

Meanwhile Tshwane mayoral candidate Solly Msimanga says he plans on moving the metro out of its economic slump by attracting investment into the capital city.
