Tutu: Women add value to society
Archbishop Tutu has used Women's Day to emphasise the role females play in uplifting society.
CAPE TOWN - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has used Women's Day to emphasise the role females play in uplifting society.
Tutu addressed a crowd at an event at the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town.
Being wheelchair-bound did not deter Archbishop Tutu from addressing the audience in support of Women's Day.
The Archbishop's address formed part of Artscape Women's Humanity Art Festival.
Tutu said women, like technology, also added value to modern-day society.
"With more women to guard us, we can narrow the chasm between technological and emotional development."
Tutu added that building family values would generate a more peaceful environment.
