Police probing fatal fire at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve
One person died and eight others were injured after a fire broke out in the reserve on Monday.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating the cause of a fire that killed one and critically wounded eight others near Heidelberg.
Authorities say those wounded were all women who were cutting grass at the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve when the fire broke out on Monday.
Emergency services spokesperson William Ntladi says the women sustained serious burns to their faces and other parts of their bodies.
"All those who sustained injuries were transported to hospital. The other one was airlifted to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. The cause of the fire is unknown, however the inquest docket has been opened."
