PRETORIA - The Democratic Alliance's (DA) Tshwane mayoral candidate Solly Msimanga says the only way the country can break the backbone of apartheid is by having a government that will deliver equal services to all.

The DA held a victory rally at Freedom Park in Pretoria today.

The main opposition thanked its supporters after becoming the biggest party in the metro.

Msimanga could be the next mayor of the capital City if the DA clinches a deal to run Tshwane.

He says given the chance, he will focus on service delivery.

"We will ensure that the services that somebody is getting in Mshongoville is the same service that somebody is getting in Centurion."

The DA has already begun talks with other political parties in order to form a coalition government.

Party leader Mmusi Maimane says the party sees a great opportunity to govern all three metros in Gauteng.
