Two dead, 50 homeless in separate fires in Cape Town

CAPE TOWN - Two people have died and about 50 others have been left homeless following two separate fires in Philippi and Gugulethu.

Both incidents occurred during the early hours of this morning

City Fire and Rescue spokesperson Liezl Moodie says: "The city's fire and rescue services responded to a fire in Philippi where we had one wooden-iron structure that was destroyed by fire leaving two adults deceased and one male minor sustained burn wounds to his hand. In a further incident were had in NY1 Gugulethu, where we had approximately twenty wooden-iron structures damaged by a fire."

Over the weekend, separate fires in Philippi and Nomzamo claimed three lives and displaced fifteen others.
