EFF lays down law on Joburg, Tshwane coalitions
The EFF says it will not enter into any coalitions with the ruling African National Congress.
PRETORIA - With the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) looking increasingly like the kingmakers in Johannesburg and Pretoria, the party's begun laying down the law on whom they will align with and under what conditions.
They're adamant that they won't join any coalition with the ruling African National Congress and they'll want cast-iron guarantees before entering others.
EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu certainly had more microphones thrust at him at the IEC results centr e as his party attracted votes in the upmarket suburb of Waterkloof three days ago.
He was adamant that any deal the EFF does with the Democratic Alliance to wrest control of the capital from the ANC will not be designed to benefit the residents of that and other salubrious suburbs.
He says the EFF will require written contracts on deliverables to the more needy elements of the population before getting into the problematic political bed with Democratic Alliance.
