Vote counting heads into the final stretch
At 8am, the ANC had 54,2% of the vote, the DA 26,5% and EFF 7,9% nationally, with 91% of the votes counted.
At 8:00am, vote-counting was at 91%, according the commission's website.

The DA is, however, leading in the Tshwane metro at the moment with 43,49%. The ANC is following closely behind with 41,91% and the EFF at 10,57%.
The DA in the Western Cape will retain control of the province, but will have to negotiate political partnerships in hung councils.

Other parties have just over three percent in the Western Cape.
In the Northern Cape, the ruling party now holds 58,26% of the vote, the DA 24,85% and the EFF 8,6%.
And in the Free State, where 99% of vote-counting has been completed, the ANC has 61,65%, the DA 20,33% and the EFF is at 9,62%.
