Cope blames dismal performance on lack of resources
Cope’s Xolela Njonondwana was however pleased with the results in the Northern Cape.
Party representatives are glued to the results board as new data slowly trickles in.
By midday in the Western Cape, Cope had won less than 0.44 percent of the 80% of votes counted up until now.
Cope's Xolela Njonondwana has been walking around with a grim expression and head hung low.
He has blamed his party's dismal performance on a lack of resources.
"We are disappointed because we didn't do quite well and it points out to one thing - that smaller parties that don't have resources will always suffer when it comes to elections."
Njonondwana says they are however pleased with their performance in the Northern Cape where they have managed to retain a few wards.
