Logistical nightmare for Clanwilliam voters

One resident says her voting station was brought to a standstill when it ran out of ballot papers.

CAPE TOWN - While voting in the Western Cape is said to be going smoothly in general, some Clanwilliam residents are voicing their frustration after they couldn't vote, because of a lack of ballot papers.

It's understood that several registered voters who showed up at their local polling station to find their addresses were missing.

Voter René Goldsworthy says it was a logistical nightmare.

"I had my address checked earlier, so I knew it was going to be okay. But when you get there they tell you, you can't vote because they don't have an address for you.

"'Why do they mark your finger to say you have voted but you're sitting and waiting?'"

Goldsworthy says the station was brought to a standstill when it ran out of ballot papers.

"An hour we waited because they were waiting for forms (sic)."
