CAPE TOWN - A Macassar woman is expected in the dock today for allegedly stabbing her newborn son.
The infant is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed in the neck at the weekend.
The woman reportedly attacked the baby before wrapping him up in a blanket and taking him to the hospital.
Western Cape Health's Mark van der Heever said: "The newborn baby was brought into our community health centre after being stabbed.
"The child has since been transferred to Tygerberg Hospital for further treatment and the department is working closely with Saps during this investigation as well as social workers."
