UPDATE: CT mother who allegedly stabbed her baby sent for psychiatric evaluation
The baby boy is recovering in Tygerberg Hospital after he was stabbed in the neck with a knife.
CAPE TOWN - The Macassar mother who allegedly stabbed her new-born baby in the neck has been sent for a mental health evaluation.
The 33-year-old appeared in the Somerset West Magistrates Court this morning.
She's alleged to have stabbed her baby at the weekend.
The two-day old baby boy is recovering in Tygerberg Hospital after he was stabbed in the neck with a knife.

The woman reportedly wrapped the infant in a blanket before taking him to the Macassar Community Clinic.
Police say she was arrested and has been charged with attempted murder.
But prosecutors are still deliberating on the matter.
