Four stable after deadly collision with Cape ambulance

CAPE TOWN - Four people, including a one-year-old child, are in a stable condition after they were involved in a deadly collision involving an ambulance in Elsies River.

Three pedestrians died when they were knocked down by the vehicle yesterday.

The ambulance was transporting a woman and baby, when it struck the pedestrians while trying to avoid hitting another vehicle.

Western Cape Health Department spokesperson Marika Champion says: "An EMS ambulance, transporting two patients, was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Elsies River. Three pedestrians were killed when the ambulance hit them while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle. The department regrets this unfortunate incident and we are working closely with Saps to investigate the full details."
