Political killings: 10 people arrested
Kgomotso Phahlane says officials are still investigating the murders of some candidates.
Phahlane says so far 10 people have been arrested in connection to the deaths of ward councillor candidates in parts of the country.
Police say they are confident about the security measures put in place for voting day tomorrow when more than 20 million people will cast their ballots.
He says while officials are still investigating the murders of some candidates, not all the cases are politically motivated but also involve disputes in the taxi industry.
He says the tenth suspect was apprehended yesterday for a killing in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We've brought the perpetrators of those crimes to book and, as early as yesterday, we arrested the tenth one with about five firearms in his possession. We are ensuring that which we said we are going to do is being done." Click here for EWN's feature tracking the political violence hot spots.
