Tau meets with JHB's LGBTI community
The ANC JHB mayoral candidate Parks Tau meets with the community in Soweto as he wraps up his campaign.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) mayoral candidate for Johannesburg Parks Tau is meeting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community in Soweto this evening, as parties conclude their campaigning for the local government elections.
The LGBTI community continues to suffer abuse and homophobia in both their personal and professional spaces and have often complained about their rights being side-lined.
One of the activists meeting with Tau tonight, Motlatsi Motseoile says they will use the meeting to alert the ANC to the challenges facing LGBTI people in the City.
"To raise their issues and realities in terms of service issues, community integration and how we exist as members of the LGBTI community within the Johannesburg region - its for us to speak to the man in charge."
