IFP in Nkandla to scramble last set of votes
The party will host a rally at the Nkandla sports grounds this afternoon
DURBAN - Thousands of people have arrived at the Sports Grounds in Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal, where Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) president Mangosuthu Buthelezi will address the gathering this afternoon.
The IFP has been visiting areas around the province this week to ramp up support ahead of Wednesday's election.
It's a party atmosphere here in Nkandla, where thousands of people have filled the stands for today's event.
Almost everyone is wearing some sort of IFP paraphernalia, while most men are dressed in traditional Zulu attire, accompanied with a shield and spear.
Brian Ncube, who's selling IFP regalia, says he expects to make at least R6,000 today.
On stage, traditional Zulu music is being played by a group, as the crowd awaits the arrival of party president, who will address them later this afternoon.
Tomorrow the IFP will travel to Ulundi for its final rally.
