Worcester man in R5m abalone bust due in court
The man was arrested for being in the possession of abalone worth nearly R5 million near Swellendam.
CAPE TOWN - A Worcester resident will appear in court today after he was arrested for being in the possession of abalone worth nearly R5 million along the N2 near Swellendam.
Police pulled over the suspect earlier this week. Discovered 78 bags of abalone
The police's Malcom Poje said: "In total we found 8,989 pieces of abalone in the bags. Subsequently to the find, we handled it to the relevant department for further disposal. We also confiscated the combi he was driving with."
