JOHANNESBURG - Police have dispersed protesting students believed to be from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Wits student command in Braamfontein.

Earlier, police fired rubber bullets when the protest spilled over onto the Nelson Mandela Bridge where the CEO SleepOut is being held.

Students began burning tyres on Melle Street before the police intervened.

Many of the students, who were seen wearing red berets, went inside the building and broke windows.

Police raided the building in which the students were in, but many are still inside.

The CEO SleepOut on the Nelson Mandela Bridge has so far not been affected.
