CAPE TOWN - A Mitchells Plain man has described the murder of his sister as surreal.

Elanor Wyngaard was hijacked and shot dead outside her Westridge home earlier this week.

Her brother Edgar says the family is deeply traumatised.

"It was a total surprise because the area we live in is very quiet. There are no gangs in the area but I'm realising now that it's rife and hijacking is happening more and more."
