CAPE TOWN - The Women's Legal Centre (WLC) intends making public a report detailing sex workers' allegations of abuse at the hands of police officers.

The document is also expected to be discussed at an International Aids Conference in Durban this week.

The centre's Stacey-Leigh Manoek said: "The police officers have engaged in verbal, psychological, physical, economic and sexual violence against sex workers. They've also conducted arbitrary and illegal arrests. They've also violated four more procedures and standing orders and [the workers] were denied appropriate access to justice."
