Mick Fanning praises Surf League for J-Bay safety measures
Surfer Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark during last year's J-Bay Open Final.
CAPE TOWN - Australian surfer, Mick Fanning, has praised the World Surf League for efforts to ensure the safety of surfers while competing in Jeffreys Bay.
Fanning was attacked last year by a shark at the J-Bay Open Final. The attack was captured live on TV and made global headlines.
He has returned to compete at the event this year.
Fanning says the safety measures in place have put his mind at ease
"It is such an amazing call to make sure that we are all safe. We are sitting out there with a whole bunch of a jet skis and we are tracking whatever big fish are coming through. It's all pretty good. "
