City Power working to restore power in the West Rand

City Power says that it expects to have power restored by 9pm tonight.

JOHANNESBURG - City Power says it is working to restore power to a number of areas on Gauteng's West Rand by 9pm tonight.

White Ridge, Delarey, Berg-Bron and surrounding areas have been in the dark since yesterday after a fire broke out on a transformer due to an internal fault.

City Power says its doing its best to restore electricity in the area and has apologised to its customers.

The utility spokesperson Yumna Sheik said: "We've identified the second transformer that we are going to bring back and the other team is still busy with. We expect to have the power restored by 9pm tonight after testing and cleaning of the site."

1/2) Update: Florida Glen S/S a fire broke out on one of the transformers and was put out last night at 22:00. Repairs are underway.

2/2) The following areas will remain off: Industria North, Daleray, Florida Glen, Whiteridge & Bergbron. ETR is 21:00 today. ^BM
