ANC in WC says it is focusing on elections and not Fransman
The ANC said it will not comment on a leaked report about Marius Fransman.
The party's integrity committee, led by veteran members, reportedly recommended that Fransman step down from his position as provincial leader for bringing the party into disrepute.
The committee investigated claims of sexual assault brought against the politician by his 21-year-old personal assistant, Louisa Wynand.
Provincial spokesperson Jabu Mfusi said: "There is nothing formal that has come to us as the African National Congress in the Western Cape and therefore it's difficult for us to comment on matters that we have not heard about from the media. We are busy with elections for the ANC."
Fransman says the integrity committee has not formally informed him about its findings.
He says the probe had been compromised by political expediency orchestrated by factions' intent on destroying his career.
