KZN woman arrested for kidnapping 6-weeks-old baby
The mother had taken the infant to the clinic for immunisation when the suspect offered to quieten him down.
JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a 28-year-old woman for allegedly kidnapping a six-weeks-old baby at a local clinic
The Kwamsane Family Violence and the Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested the woman yesterday at the Nkombose area after she had allegedly snuck off with the baby boy the day before.
The police's Thulane Zwane says the mother had taken the infant to the clinic for immunisation when the suspect took the baby from the mother to help quieten him down while he was crying.
He says the suspect managed to get the baby to sleep and told the mother she is going to look for her sister then made a run with him.
Zwane says the suspect will appear in the Kwamsane Magistrates Court on Monday.
"She was arrested early yesterday morning after officials received information about her and her whereabouts."
