SOS Coalition reaffirms support for suspended SABC staffers
SABC employees have been publicly critical of editorial changes which they say equate to censorship.
JOHANNESBURG - The Save Our Sabc Coalition says it stands firm with suspended employees at the broadcaster who are facing disciplinary action.
Preparation is underway ahead of disciplinary hearings which will be held for the seven workers, who are accused of contravening the South African Broadcasting Corporation's(SABC) disciplinary code.
The employees have been publicly critical of editorial changes at the SABC which they say equate to censorship.
The coalition's Sekoetlane Phamodi says disciplinary processes have begun against some of the suspended employees.
"There are disciplinary processes that have started today. It has been a really difficult week for SABC workers."
He says the organisation will continue to speak up for the rights of affected workers.
"We will go the distance with them in terms of ensuring that justice does prevail."
Phamodi says lobby groups plan to continue demonstrations until order is restored to the public broadcaster.
