Police arrest man in possession of uncut diamonds

CAPE TOWN - Police have arrested a man in Klawer after he was found in possession of eight uncut diamonds.

He was stopped by police while driving near the weighbridge yesterday.

Officers acted on a tip-off about illegal diamond smuggling in the small town, situated near Vanrhynsdorp.

The police's Andre Traut said: "A 48-year-old man is due to make a court appearance once he has been charged for the illegal possession of uncut diamonds. He was arrested yesterday afternoon by the members of the K9 unit in Klawer."
