CAPE TOWN - There's been a spike in gang violence in at least two Cape Town communities this week.

Deadly shootings have been reported in both Hanover Park and Bonteheuwel over the past three days.

No arrests have been made in connection with the spate of shootings in Bonteheuwel and Hanover Park this week.

It is believed that the gun battles are between rival gangs in these areas.

In the latest incident in Hanover Park yesterday, two men were killed and five people, including an eight-year-old child were wounded.

Paramedics have requested police protection when entering the area.

Meanwhile, some Bonteheuwel residents have taken to social media, saying that the area sounds like a warzone, especially at night.

A 15-year-old Yazeed Jantjies was gunned down outside a shop in Kersboom Street earlier this week. Instead of celebrating Eid on Wednesday, his family buried him.
