He says migration into the city continues to rise with 10,000 people seeking a better life in Johannesburg per month.
The mayor says while thousands are progressing into the middle and upper classes, too many people remain trapped in a life of poverty.
Tau says under his administration the City has improved its fiscal management with its budget at R78 billion.
He's reflected on issues that could have seen improvement saying, should he return to his post, housing will need a different approach to accommodate the thousands of people migrating to the city.
