CAPE TOWN - Cape Town police say no arrests have yet been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Bonteheuwel.

The victim was gunned down on the corner of Karree and Kersboom streets late last night.

The area has been gripped by a spate of rival gang battles over the past few months with dozens of people losing their lives.

Several residents took to social media at the weekend using the Bonteheuwel Gangwatch Facebook page to report a spike in shootings.

Some of them claim an increased police presence has done little to curb the violence.

The police's Andre Traut says, "The circumstances are being investigated and the motive is yet to be determined."
