ANC forms task team to probe political killings in KZN
Another ANC member was gunned down at her home in front of her husband and children on Sunday.
JOHANNESBURG - Following the murder of yet another member of the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), the party has now established a task team to probe political killings in Newcastle.
Thembi Mbongo, who was a candidate for Ward 6 in the Newcastle municipality, was gunned down at her home in front of her husband and children on Sunday.
Her killing follows the fatal shooting of an ANC Youth League regional leader in May.
ANC KZN spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says they want to know if the killings are a cause of internal divisions in the party.
"We've formed a task team led by Bheki Sibiya, Mdumiseni Ntuli, Nonhlanhla Khoza and Comfort Ngidi to investigate the underlying causes of these political killings in Emalahleni."
