Truman Prince: I will never jump ship
He says despite attempts by certain factions to get him out of office, he remains loyal to the ANC.
CAPE TOWN - Beaufort West mayor Truman Prince says he's confident of being re-elected.
Prince is the African National Congress' (ANC) mayoral candidate despite courting controversy and facing claims of corruption.
"People reckon I will jump; I will never jump the ANC because sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side."
The mayor says despite attempts by certain factions to get him out of office, he remains loyal to the ANC.
His nomination for a potential second term as mayor, comes despite charges of corruption and assault against him.
"Those are minor issues; nothing happened about it until now, so I'm not scared about the outcome. I would like to have my day in court, if it comes to the courts."
Prince says he has worked hard to ensure Beaufort West is one of the best-run municipalities.
According to the Good Governance Africa index, it's the twelfth best municipality in the country.
