Wallacedene shack fire: seventh victim dies

CAPE TOWN - A seventh burn victim in the Wallacedene shack fire has died.

The 51-year-old Thenjiwe Mankayi died in hospital following the fire in the early hours of Friday morning.

Six people, including four children, also died after they were caught in the blaze which is believed to have been sparked by a heater.

The victims' funerals are expected to be held in the Eastern Cape next week.

Western Cape Health's Darren Francis said: "The 51-year-old female that was burned in the Wallacedene shack fire unfortunately has passed away, her injuries were too extensive."
