Bus overturns on M1 south, dozens injured

JOHANNESBURG - Emergency services say at least 40 people were injured this evening after a bus they were travelling in overturned on the M1 south, near the Crown interchange, in Johannesburg.
It's understood out of those injured, three sustained moderate to serious injuries.
While the cause of the collision is unclear, it's believed the bus was travelling to Cape Town when it collided with another vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar has urged motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
"The driver ran away, so the cause of the accident will be investigated. Through that investigation, we will establish who was driving the bus, so they can be held liable if they were reckless."

At the same time, Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe has advised motorist to avoid the N2, near the Crown interchange.
"We would like to advise all motorists to be extra cautious when driving on the N2, near the M1 interchange in Johannesburg."
