11 killed in WC road accidents this weekend

Western Cape police arrested 16 people while driving under the influence of alcohol.

CAPE TOWN - Eleven people have been killed in road accidents in the Western Cape this weekend.

The provincial traffic department spokesperson Jacques Mostert says 20 motorists were also arrested for various offences.

"Eleven people have lost their lives this weekend on provincial roads. About 1,700 drivers were screened for driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in 16 arrests. Three people were also arrested for reckless and negligent driving."
