Authorities monitor CT's N2 after protest

The rubble & debris that blocked the highway earlier has been cleared as police maintain visibility.

CAPE TOWN - Police and traffic officials are maintaining high visibility along the N2 Highway near Borchards Quarry, following a protest earlier this morning.

The road has since been reopened to traffic.

While there are no protesters to be seen at the moment, police vehicles have lined the highway to ensure that the road remains open.

The rubble and debris that blocked the highway earlier, has now been cleared.

Some Nyanga residents who are making their way to work this morning, say they 'don't know' what the protest was about.

The City of Cape Town believes the demonstration was politically motivated.
