Ravensmead residents dump DA for the EFF
The EFF in the Western Cape welcomed new councillors and members into the party today.
The EFF in the Western Cape welcomed new councillors and members into the party at its Cape Town headquarters this afternoon.
The party's leadership claims it has recruited at least 2,000 new members recently and the numbers are growing.
The red berets handed out t-shirts to its newly recruited Ravensmead, Gugulethu and Overberg members.
Several Ravensmead residents say they have left the DA as the party has done nothing to advance the living conditions of coloured voters in the Cape.
One resident says, "They are corrupt, they lie to us coloureds."
Another says, "We are standing here, we haven't even got work. Now it's voting time."
Former Ward 25 councillor Freddie Kearns says he lost faith in the DA when it spent hundreds of millions of rands to change the city's logo.
Kearns says he's had enough of deceit and empty promises.
"I was just fed up with all the lies. They have been blaming the African National Congress for a lot of things, but not exposing their own thing."
The leadership has urged its new members not to burn their former blue t-shirts as it says it will box them and send them to the DA's offices.
