JOHANNESBURG - Charges of illegal operation, crimen injuria and tax evasion have been laid against the owner of a KwaZulu-Natal guest house, who said his establishment was not taking bookings from black people and government employees.

The province's Economic Development and Tourism MEC Sihle Zikalala opened the case today against Sodwana Bay Guest House owner Andre Slade.

He says Slade's license will be suspended and he will be evicted from the Ingonyama land.

The MEC says because Slade is trading without being registered, there is also a possibility that he may not be paying tax.

Zikalala, who is set to visit the guest house, says Slade leased the land under the pretense of training and empowering locals.
