Racist KZN guest house owner to face the heat
An email between Andre Slade & a prospective guest caused a storm on social media last week.
JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal Tourism MEC Sihle Zikakala says a probe into allegations that the owner of the Sodwana Bay Guest House is refusing to accommodate black people has been completed.
Zikakala says he will visit the guest house tomorrow, to take action.
An email between Andre Slade, the owner, and a prospective guest caused a storm on social media last week.
Slade told the black woman in the email that they do not accept blacks or government employees as guests anymore.
Zikalala says he's received a preliminary report on the investigations into the guest house.
He says refusing to accommodate clients, based on their colour, is simply illegal.
"We are not going to accept that. We are going there on Wednesday morning and we're going to be very decisive."
The MEC says that he wants the action he takes tomorrow to be an example to other racists.
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is also investigating the matter.
