DA weighs options on future of George mayor
Charles Standers was suspended from the DA after his wife filed a domestic violence case against him.
CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA)'s Federal Executive Committee is considering what steps to take after the party's caucus in George expressed concerns regarding the town's mayor, Charles Standers.
The party in the region is believed to be unhappy with Standers' leadership.
DA spokesperson Jaco Londt says a decision is expected in about two weeks' time.
"They have communicated that to the Fedex and they then need to get to caucus on what the next step is to take, to address their concerns."
Standers was suspended from the DA in February after his wife filed a domestic violence case against him.
He was not arrested following the alleged altercation.
