George mayor faces axing

CAPE TOWN - George Mayor Charles Standers faces losing his job after the Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus raised concerns over what it says is his leadership.
The party has submitted a letter to the Federal Executive Committee with a list of grievances.
Standers was suspended from the DA in February after his wife filed a domestic violence charge against him.
He was not arrested following the alleged altercation.
DA spokesperson Jaco Londt said, "There's an internal party process that's taking place. The caucus met last week, they discussed certain concerns regarding the leadership and they sent those concerns to the federal executive for consideration."
