Panayiotou to remain behinds bars until trial
He was denied bail a third time yesterday and is expected to appear on trial in October.
CAPE TOWN - Murder accused Christopher Panayiotou will remain behinds bars until the start of his trial in October.
He was denied bail a third time yesterday.
He's accused of orchestrating the murder his 29-year-old wife Jayde.
The State argues he did this because he considered her a financial burden.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Panayiotou being denied bail on three occasions proves it has a strong case against the Port Elizabeth businessman.
Panayiotou has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravated circumstances, murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Investigators have also nabbed three men who have been implicated in the killing.
One of them, Luthando Siyoni, has turned state witness.
Panayiotou's mistress Chanelle Coutts is also expected to testify against him.
