Third time unlucky, Panayiotou denied bail
Christopher Panayiotou has been denied bail for the third time after his arrest for his wife’s murder.
His defence team attempted bail again, saying they've obtained new evidence, but the magistrate says there was none.
Magistrate Abigail Beeton says the murder accused's defence has put forward no new evidence for his bail application to be considered.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Beeton told the court Panayiotou has provided no irrefutable facts proving he may be innocent in his wife's kidnapping and murder.
The magistrate says Panayiotou's version that his rights and those of State witness Luthando Siyoni were violated when they were arrested is for the trial court to decide.
The murder trial is expected to start on 10 October.
