TSHWANE - Eyewitnesses in Soshanguve have described harrowing scenes during a shooting that's claimed the lives of two people.

The pair were gunned down around the central city mall area following overnight looting.

No arrests have been made by police at this stage.

The latest killings bring the death toll from this week's unrest in Tshwane to five.

A woman who lives in a house next to where one person was shot dead says she's been left shaken.

"I heard a lot of gun shots, they used a lot of tear gas. We have kids and we are afraid to go outside because the police have guns, I was afraid to go outside because of the dead guy."

She says she fears for her and her children's safety.

"I don't know what I would do if they come back."

The area remains calm, with only rubble and empty bullet shells left on the scene.
