Around 6,000 affected by cold, wet weather in CT
Heavy rains and flooding across Cape Town has left some informal settlements drenched.
CAPE TOWN - Thousands of people have been affected by heavy rains and flooding across Cape Town.
The City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management unit says around 6,000 people have been affected by the wet and cold weather, which have left some informal settlements drenched.
Parts of Khayelitsha, Gugulethu and Philippi have been the hardest hit.
The city's Charlotte Powells says, "There's been shallow flooding, leaking roofs and the inside of dwellings is wet. We made an assessment and that is the reason that we are providing the news, so that the community can get warm clothing."
#Rain NGOs have distributed blankets, hot meals and clothing to Cape Town informal settlers affected by the heavy downpour this weekend. RE
